Basic Purpose


To ensure the timely payment of real estate property taxes according to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements for minimal risk and loss exposure to Navy Federal and its investors. Verify accurate and timely real estate property tax payments are made by communicating with members and relevant areas of Real Estate Lending (REL) to minimize risk, penalty or damage of the property from non-payment. Ensure Service level Agreements (SLAs) are met and quality of work is achieved. Respond/answer member inquiries about property tax issues, changes, etc. Ensure follow through to resolve any issues timely that may have an adverse impact. Identify trends, customer service issues in the property tax process and keep management team informed. May work with attorneys, trustees and members to resolve tax sales. Work under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Balance disbursement reports and coordinate payment via wiring of funds to pay property taxes or manual payment
  • Post deficiency payments and make appropriate payment adjustments based on escrow shortages or overages
  • Review, research, and verify monthly outstanding check report to determine if check has been cashed (JDR335)
  • Monitor and collect necessary documentation to determine payment of non-escrowed loans – update escrow vs non-escrow status with Corelogic
  • Follow-up on delinquent tax notices for non-escrow loans
  • Coordinate with internal departments to provide accurate supporting information and documentation of real estate taxes to prepare and deliver to appropriate parties
  • Reconcile tax refunds to monitor proper handling of funds
  • Research and investigate discrepancies in tax payments due to missing or inaccurate payments
  • Research and resolve with third parties/vendors property tax issues including; processing tax disbursements, tax sales, delinquencies, refunds, incorrect legal descriptions, parcel and tax title issues
  • Ensure the data contained in the servicing system is updated to reflect the current status regarding tax payment due dates and amounts
  • Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with payment schedules, applicable federal, state and industry laws, regulations and guidelines
  • Monitor the collection of tax penalties from applicable various parties such as vendor and/or third parties and seek reimbursement if applicable
  • Develop, recommend and document adjustments to workflow to streamline processes

Qualifications – All required unless otherwise noted

  • Familiarity with financial institution and lending practices, principles and regulations
  • Experience in member/customer service preferably in a call center/retail banking/financial institution
  • Familiarity with financial transaction/processing related responsibilities
  • Exposure to quality control & post settlement property tax reviews
  • Familiarity with insurance regulations that affect the establishment/administration of state escrow requirements
  • Familiarity with property taxes
  • Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Effective skill reviewing documents for errors, inconsistencies or missing information
  • Effective research, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Effective skill following, interpreting and applying guidelines, procedures, practices, regulations

Hours:Monday - Friday 10:00AM - 6:30PM (Two Month Training- Monday - Friday; 8:00AM - 4:30PM)

Pay Range: $14.00 - $22.50
